Community Guidelines

Refrakt is an open photography platform with members from all over the world, with different backgrounds and cultures. We want to make sure everyone feels safe, respected, and valued here. As a member of Refrakt, we ask that you follow these guidelines to help us achieve that goal.

Please communicate anything that goes against these guidelines via email to support@refrakt.app or use the in-app reporting tools.

Unacceptable content

  • Illegal content, such that promotes or facilitates illegal activities

  • Violent or sexually suggestive content involving minors

  • Gore and violent mutilation of any kind

  • Copyright infringement

  • Spam, advertising, or links to malware or phishing sites

Unacceptable behavior

  • Harassment such as bullying, threats, sustained or graphic sexual advances

  • Hate speech, discrimination, or intolerance of any kind

  • Incitement to violence or violent threats, on or off the platform

  • Impersonating another person or member of the community

  • Posting anyone's personal information or private content without consent

Adult themes and nudity

We do allow mature content on Refrakt.

However we do not allow pornography, content that solicits sexual services, depicts sexual violence, or sexual content or nudity involving minors.

We have markers for NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content when posting, and we ask that you use them to help others avoid seeing content they may not want to see. All NSFW content is blurred by default, and it's up to each individual user to change their settings to view it. If we see unmarked content, we may add the marker for you.

Please keep it tasteful, respectful, and consensual.

Moderation policy

Each case is different, but we generally follow these steps when moderating:

  • When unacceptable content is reported, or we find it ourselves, we'll start by determining if it should be immediately hidden while we review.

  • If it requires further review, we'll temporarily hide the content from public feeds and profiles. We'll then reach out to the author for further clarification or to provide context.

  • If the content is found to be in violation of these guidelines or terms, we'll remove it and may take further action such as suspending the account.

  • If the content is illegal, we will also report it to the relevant authorities.

In the case of unacceptable behavior or repeated violations, we may temporarily or permanently suspend your account. This is a last resort, and we hope it doesn't come to that.

We will always communicate with you if we need to take action on your content or account, and explain our reasoning. You may appeal the decision, but we reserve the right to make the final call. We trust our members common sense and judgement, and we hope that this process is clear and easy to follow.

Ultimately, be kind, considerate, and respectful to others. We want to foster a community that is inclusive, diverse, and supportive.
